Neal Dominates Osborn Memorial for Weekend Sweep
By Anthony Ainslie

Jake Neal pulls a 2-day weekend sweep with a win in the Hauliní with Hoker Trucking Super Late Models East Seriesí return to Independence Motor Speedway on Saturday.
The high-banked 3/8 mile oval at the Buchanon County Fairgrounds in Independence, Iowa played host to round 11 for the East Series. Saturdayís Denny Osborn Memorial was the second highest paying race on the tour with a big $7,200 going to the winner. A field of 32 cars made the trip out to Independence for a shot at the top prize.
Charlie McKenna, the winner of the first East Series race at Independence back in 2020, set the overall fast time with a 14.751 lap time. He was the only driver to reach into the 14-second range during qualifying.
The nightís four heat races were won by Tad Pospisil, Darrel DeFrance, Ben Schaller, and Curt Schroeder. Later in the night, Dave Eckrich and Independence Motor Speedway Track Points Leader, Sean Johnson, won the two B features. Meanwhile, Justin Kay and Luke Goedert, the top two in the East Series point standings, did not transfer from the B features, and both had to take provisionals making them the 21st and 22nd starters in the 23-car main event field.
The field performed a 4-wide missing-man parade lap as the pole position was left open for Denny Osborn. When it was time to do battle for the 36-lap main event, Jake Neal jumped from the outside pole position to take the early lead while pole sitter Tad Pospisil ran second.
A couple of early cautions came out in the first five laps, but when racing resumed, Neal had a challenge coming from Pospisil and top qualifier Charlie McKenna who worked his way to third. The trio raced through the lapped traffic as the green flag laps continued to click off the lap counter.
The final caution of the night came out with 11 laps to go for a stalled car in turn two. Neal was able to hit his marks on the ensuing restart. Meanwhile, McKenna got around Pospisil for the second spot, but that was where his charge would end.
Jake Neal led all 36 laps and captured the big win in the Denny Osborn Memorial, backing up his win in the Dale DeFrance Memorial from Marshalltown Speedway the night before. His 2-day efforts earned him a winnerís total of $11,600. Neal Also claimed victory for the third time with the East Series making him the winningest driver on the tour. His two wins on the West tour so far makes him the most decorated driver between both tours with five wins overall.
Charlie McKenna would have to settle for second while Tad Pospisil finished third. Jeff Aikey charged from 13th to finish fourth, and Todd Cooney rounded out the top five. As for Justin Kay and Luke Goedert, the top two in the East Standings finished 10th and 12th respectively.
The Hauliní with Hoker Trucking East Series will now be off for a week before returning to action on Saturday and Sunday, August 20th and 21st. Another Iowa doubleheader awaits the tour with visits to the West Liberty Raceway on the 20th and at Mason City Motor Speedway on the 21st.
During the break, the Malvern Bank West Series gears up for their next race as the tour heads to the Thayer County Speedway in Deshler, Nebraska.
