Pospisil Wire to Wire for second win of 2020 at Shelby County Speedway
By Anthony Ainslie
7/18/20

Racing returned to action for the Malvern Bank Super Late Models West Series as the tour headed back to Iowa Saturday night.
Round six of the 2020 season took the series to the high banks of the Shelby County Speedway in Harlan, Iowa. A field of 27 cars made the trip for a duel under the Saturday night lights.
Tad Pospisil, the fastest qualifier of the night, brought the main event field to the green from the pole. Pospisil jumped to the lead while Iowa drivers Jason O’Brien and Nick Deal traded slide jobs for the fourth spot.
Cautions bred cautions as the race progressed. Many drivers fell victims to spins or mechanical issues. Josh Leonard was the first after he pulled to the pits on lap four. Jason Rauen had mechanical issues after running in the fifth position for most of the first half of the race.
After the final restart with nine laps to go, Pospisil led while Deal worked his way up to the second position. O’Brien worked his way up to the final spot on the podium, but when the dust finally settled, Tad Pospisil led all 25 circuits to clinch his second West Series win of 2020 and his 19th career Malvern Bank Series win.
Deal and O’Brien took second and third while Ben Schaller took fourth, and point leader Bill Leighton Jr. came from the 13th starting spot to round out the top five.
The Malvern Bank West Series teams up with the Haulin’ with Hoker Trucking East Series for the next stop on the 2020 schedule. The tours take to the I-80 Speedway in Greenwood, Nebraska on July 22nd to kick off the tenth annual Imperial Tile Silver Dollar Nationals. After that, the tour has a two-day swing at the Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City, Kansas and the Adams County Speedway in Corning, Iowa on July 31st and August 1st.
