Will Roger be at this meeting or just the committee? |
| rstar | Posted on 2/1/2012 5:19:48 PM
Wingstand-only the sprint car teams will be present. We felt it would be much more productive and less of a beach session if Roger was absent. Please bring all of your good ideas to the meeting, or if you can't make it please contact one of the committee members and let them know what your ideas are. Thanks |

Here's the capsule version.....Track Conditions, car count and how to encourage more new participation and new racers to sprint cars and where they will come from, purse structure (possible slight decrease if minimum car counts not met), points fund which should be in the same $$$ vicinity as last season(which everyone was VERY happy with, self promotion of the class/fan interaction, weekly Hard Charger award being developed w/ 4 wks accounted for, procedures( draw, line-ups, race starts) and future of the class as it exists now/where it may be headed pending failing participation.... were the main topics of discussion. There was talk of some new and returning drivers, but also some talk of others cutting back their schedules for various reasons.....relayed all the information to Roger by phone this AM............SC

Hey there DWI, I'm guessing by the precise knowledge you have of what took place at the meeting then you must have been there. I wonder, if you hate sprint cars then what are you doing at a meeting that its sole purpose is for improvement of the class? Maybe it's narrow minded like you that are the problem? If you like another class better, then start a committee for them and try to improve their show.

YEAH I WAS THERE. NO I DONT HATE SPRINTS CAUSE WE HAD A TEAM A FEW YEARS AGO. I WENT HOPING SOME STUFF WOULD CHANGE SO WE COULD COME BACK BUT THAT AINT HAPENING. I WANT SPRINTS TO DO GOOD BUT THERE GONNA FAIL JUST A MATTER OF WHEN.

DWI, you say you USED to have a car out there. In your mind, what would have to change for your car to be present at Eagle? Do you race anywhere now? |
| lloyd | Posted on 2/8/2012 3:37:17 PM
Same crap, different year. Thought it was all fixed last year. |
| sprint13f | Posted on 2/8/2012 4:32:05 PM
The Main issue is sprint cars are too expensive. Out of control motors. Titanium this and titanium that. Control the cost of the car and weekly cost and there will be more. The purse and conditions have little to do with the count other than a scapegoat. I absolutely love sprint cars, deep seeded passion BUT if something is not done soon they will go away. I wonder how much slower they would be with about 600HP??? and a realistic weight?

1. What was the average sprint car count in 2011? 2. How many were teams that travel? 3. How many raced just Eagle or pretty much JUST concentrated on Eagle Raceway? 4. Are the Sprints at Eagle sanctioned under any racing body?

There needs to be rules set, then enforced. Period. Set weights, illegal parts, ect and then have someone tech them that knows what they are doing. Why are there not any low budget race team committee members? Don't you think their view would be different than big budget teams? Just sayin.

Chad, have you priced the cost of an A-mod lately? They're not much less than a sprint car these days. A certain sprint driver considered driving a mod in 2012 until he found out the cost of having a competitive mod was just slightly lower than cost of a sprint car. He'll be back in a sprinter for 2012.
Buddy, I'm unsure of where you're going with the questions, but there was a slight increase in sprint car counts last year over 2010. I'd say the majority of the cars raced a few times elsewhere, whether it be Albion, NCRA or with the ASCS, but I'm unable to give you a specific number of times. As hard as it is for some to believe, Eagle actually has one of the higher car counts for a weekly 360 show in the U.S. The Eagle sprint cars are non-sanctioned, but tries to adhere to the ASCS rules with some slight variations.
In the best interest/perception of sprint racing, I would suggest sprint teams and fans refrain from responding to any negative posts, as this only plays into the hands of those that wish for failure of the sprint car class. If you want to yell or cuss at someone, give me a call as I believe most all of you know who I am and I'm easily accessible and will listen to you. I may even yell and cuss back!!! LOL If you don't have my number, send me a private message and I'll give you my number as it is unlisted.
Roger, I'm as low budget as they come (I don't have a team or drive)! Would have loved to have seen you there last night.

Buddy Ray: To be exact....average was 21.13 cars per night on the 15 weekly points nights (high of 29, low of 17) travelers varied from 2-7, there were about 15-17 "regulars" plus some that were there "most" of the time, then the drop-ins (lots of attrition caused lower car counts after the first month or so.....non sanctioned w/ ASCS (for the most part) rules.
Roger "X": would love to hear your input and comments.
rstar is used to being yelled and cussed at LOL By the way...still looking for additional nightly sponsors for the "Hard Charger" award....$100/night, includes 2 tickets, and photo of the check presentation during intermission. Contact rstar or myself for any other information..................SC

13F HIT IT FOR US. WE CANT WIN AGAINST BIG DOLLARS AND WE KNOW IT. MAYBE A SPEC SERIES OR SOMETHING. THE PURSE IS FINE. WE DONT WANT MORE MUNEY JUST A CHANCE TO BE EQUAL AND MAYBE WIN ONCE IN AWHILE. I LIKED THE IDEA OF THE EXTRA SPOILER ON THE WING DEAL CAUSE IT MEANT THAT SETUP AND DRIVER WOULD WIN NOT MUNEY. GUESS WELL WAIT UNTIL NEXT YEAR AND SEE IF WE WANT TO GET BACK IN. AND WE DONT RACE NOWHERE CAUSE ITS ALL THE SAME.

Last time I checked the 2011 sprint car point champion pulled their car out on an open trailer. Joe, what year are most of your engine parts from?

I wasn't at the meeting due to family health concerns. So, I got updates on the goings on from a couple of people. I wanted to do that so I could get an idea of where we were going to be this coming season as far as the sprint cars were concerned.
So, what's the answer to the sprint car dilemma?? Heckifino!! Is the solution more purse and points fund money? Where would the money come from (If I don't win the Powerball Saturday)??
Should we try the P.O.S. Adapter like Deal With My Caps Lock wants? I had heard lots of tracks were interested, but none of them wanted to be the first to try it.
I heard something was said about going to the Racesaver engine package and maybe IMCA; maybe that's it.
Perhaps it's something that no one has thought of yet.
I want to see the sprinters and every other class at Eagle thrive. I only wish I did have the one true solution to all of the questions. But I pray that we'll have them all running the high banks for a long, LONG time.

Last year there was a meeting and I heard a million different ideas and nothing changed. Yes, the increased purse is nice but does it even the playing field or did it draw more cars? NO. It has to be more affordable or an even playing field before you will get new cars built or more travelers. I don't know what Stu had or has, but I know they need to stick to a set of rules that are enforced by a tech crew and not changed by anyone else depending on the night.

hi its Ray again im back! One of the main issues in the meeting was the track conditions and to many classes running on the same night. And we can win against Big dollars just put 15 to 18 lbs. of air in the right rear and unhook the cars. Knoxville did it years ago!!!! so it takes the big motors out of the game. Also American racer tires are cheaper all the way around! And they are more willing to give money to the point fund!!! Hossier tires don't give to the racers. ASCS rules favor the Big teams. those Oklahoma Boys are not for Nebraskans so wake up and bring the cheaper open heads back without restrictors! And if they want to race with the Nebraska boys fine...... Ascs Sanctioned shows u have to run there rules and thats fine to.... Nebraska Sprintcars should take care of themselves instead of making the ASCS the only game in town. Just like politians they promise everything and favor there special interests! i agree with rsm. Go back to Nebraska racing rules and high point man starts in the back. say NO to OKLAHOMA politics. (ASCS) The reason is there rules at first was to save money! Now the cost is to high and not enough rules as Chad said to much Titanium and the heads cost more than OPEN ones. And they are porting the heads anyway so run open heads again no restrictors.. Go back to Nebraska roots in Sprintcar racing thats all i am saying. Chad thats nice of u to help cool beans man. And Hoosier tires the right rear is 228$ gone up from 205 last year. just so u know. American racer tires save money ppl. And they all burn up lol $$$$$$$$$$$$ over a year how much money could a racer save well enough to buy a complete set of heads. Headed to my Condo in Florida for the DAYTONA 500 see you guys!!!!! stay warm Ray
