Wanting to learn how to build a hobby stock.
Basically just wanting to know the little things that rules may not mention. I know this task wont be easy or quick I plan to do this over a fall winter and spring. What size roll cage, how many points? I have a chevy 350 and th350 tranny, I had to drill new holes about 2 inches forward for the cross member to sit in the right place. is that ok? Otherwise the cross member would have not been able to support the tranny.
Can I use headers their just regular aftermarkets, 1 7/8in I think? Stock pistons, stock rods, stock crank, and stock cam is probably ok too. Inform if wrong. b/c thats what i have. I installed a serpentine belt but I know that has to go.
What pulleys do I need, Just power steering, crank, and water pump. I dont need the alternator do I?
Do I need over flow canisters, The only one I have left is the radiator?
Where can I get a plastic front clip for a cutlass or regal. I havent decided which car to use, 80% cutlass probably.
I need fuel cell but dont know how that will mount and how I will get to it.
Same thing with battery?
Does everything have to be covered with sheet metal or can I just strip out all the interior? I guess seeing a hobby stock up close would help me out a hole bunch, any takers?
I removed the a/c thats a no brainer.
Do I just take out all the wiring and only use the neccessary? Is all you would need is the power from the battery going to the starter right. plus feeds off the battery to the guages?
All I have left with the motor is to get rid of the intake and carb and reduce to a two barrel can I still use an edelbrock two barrel or does it have to be stock. Oh and I would need a carb?
If anyone could help me with any parts, or information I would greatly appreciate it. Im a do it your selfer so I wont by a car already done unless the price is right. I have motor tranny and car, So if I did by a car it would have to have a rear end. Dont care which as long as its complete with gears. If you have anyparts you think I maybe be able to use then make an offer.
