Subject: Any Interest? | | Posted by | Message | | sp21 | Posted on 11/8/2009 1:08:07 PM
We are sending out some feelers to see if there is any interest in a SMALL Eastern/Mid West Nebraska traveling non-wing sprint series. This will be very low cost in the engine dept. Not a claim but rules that are easy to police. Some thoughts are for, 366 ci., flat tops, flat tappets and STOCK steel heads. Carbs or 2 inch inj. and tires.
We would be an add on to a local weekly show and we DO have a series sponsor for part of our own purse and ins. Purse would be in the $2500 range with not all on the top.
If any of you remember how 360's got started, well this is a re run of that early 80's idea that has really taken off in the last few years.
Please call or e-mail me with thoughts. Lets not bash with acronymns. This is your chance to have it your way with your car and not a track dectated set of easy rules.

Hope you do well with this Ivan. I remember very well the beginning of the 360's at Midwest and pray that you keep this what it's initial intentions are and don't let it spiral out of hand like the 360's did.
I still love non-winged to this day since that's what I was raised on back 100 years ago.
Need a PR person?? I ain't cheap but I can be bought.
Let me know how/if I can help you guys out.
I am not now, nor have I ever been a spokesman for Eagle Raceway.
The comments are solely my own, and in no way reflect those of Eagle Raceway, it's owners or other employees. But, then again, that doesn't mean that they don't agree. | | sp21 | Posted on 11/9/2009 12:42:07 AM
Thanks Greg.

This is a proposed class to stand on it's own. It is NOT designed to replace anything at Eagle or anywhere else. This is for poor people that may want to race. There are hundreds of older sprints setting around and lots of non ASCS motors too. The rules will be simple and cheap. One of several things I learned from the old school is to keep the rules as is. People can decide to race this if they want, not to come in and re-arrange things. I have visited with tracks to have this as an extra class, much like the GOTRA's. As I said, motors can be anything as long as they are factory steel heads, blocks, flat tappet cam, flat top pistons, wet sump, and 366ci. 750 carb or 2 in. injection. Crates would be OK as long as they fit the rules.

Yeah, this sounds pretty cool.

Maximum compression rule? RR tire restriction? I'm loving this idea! It should cost very little, if any, more than a competitive modified.
