The Charlie Clark Memorial is fast approaching
The Fifth Annual Charlie Clark Memorial race at I-80 Speedway is fast approaching. The annual event honoring the late chassis builder Charlie Clark, who passed away in 2009, will move to Sunday, May 26 and it's going up a notch.
The traditional Charlie Clark Memorial feature for A Mods has been 44 laps. 22 laps then a red flag to let drivers work on their cars on the front stretch, then another 22 laps with the feature paying $2,022 to win. Not in 2013. The same 44 lap format has been retained, but with a big twist. There will be two A features. The first will start 28 cars and go for 22 laps and then the red flag will wave, giving drivers and crews a short time to work on their cars. That 22 lap feature will pay out a purse featuring $2,022 to win.
Then, after the short red flag stop, up to the top 22 finishers from the first feature will inverted (a maximum of 24 cars will start feature two) and that 22 lap feature will be ran with another purse featuring $2,022 to the winner being paid. Past winners of the race include; Jay Noteboom in 2009, David Murray in 2010, Kyle Berck in 2011 and Luke Wanninger in 2012.
In addition, the SLMR Dirt Series will be part of the Charlie Clark Memorial and they have upped the ante as well with their feature paying $2,022 to win, with second place receiving $2,222 to win. Kyle Berck won the SLMR season opening event at Butler County Speedway on April 28.
The B Mod Feature of the Charlie Clark will pay $1,022 to win and the Hobby Stock Feature paying $722 to win. Pit Gates openat 3 pm., Grandstands at 4:30 with Racing at 5:55 pm. Grandstand Admission is $15 for Adults, $5 for Juniors (6-12) With 5 and Under Free. Pit Passes will be $30.
So on Sunday, May 26 and plan on coming to I-80 Speedway because the Charlie Clark Memorial is going to be a must-see event. For more information, visit www.i-80speedway.com or call (402)-342-3453. |
