Question: Can we still run American Racers or do we HAVE to run Hoosiers????

Thanks,
Lisa

It says we CAN run Hoosiers, I take that to mean we are still allowed to run the American Racers. I still have some American Racers that I need to use up, I can still see the tread on them.

Some tracks that are not sanctioned still allow street tires. Their rules simply state "No tire wider than a G60-15."

Yeah Ernie, I just wanted to make sure because we have more American Racers than we do Hoosiers and aren't in a position financially to buy more Hoosiers.

"All Factory Stocks will run an unaltered 4412 carburetor, no exceptions."

I take that to mean we have to run a 4412. However, that's weekly rules. I heard through the grapevine that somebody was caught with a 350 in 2009 and they were told to not bring that carb back. I don't know if that is true or not.

In 2009, they said they would "grandfather" in the 2008 rules. That is not in the rules this year.

Pete, the tire rule looks like one of those "gray" areas. The way it's written, I'd guess you will have to get teched for an answer. Says you "can" run Hoosiers, but does not say "MUST." Better yet, try giving Jon or Toby a call.

Yeah I read that the same as you also Ernie, but it seems odd I cant run a IMCA legal carb if I want to. It should be my choice to give up 80 hp to the rear wheels.

Last time I went there I broke a crank with a 4412. I dont think I need the extra hp or wear and tear.

That wasn't the carb, it was those sticky tires getting too much grip. :O
