If the weather doesn't become adverse in the next couple of days, Culbertson Speedway will have its opening night on Friday night, May 9. Promoter Jim Lewis says the track is ready to go. Racing that night will be IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Stock Cars, IMCA Hobby Stocks, Classic Modifieds, and Mini-Trucks. Just a reminder, that at the end of the season, the point champions of the IMCA classes will be recognized by IMCA.

The gates will open at 6 PM, and the races will start at 8 PM, Central Time. Grandstand admission prices are $8.00 for adults, $5.00 for children 6 - 12, and free for children 5 and under. Pit passes are $20.00. For more information, contact Jim Lewis at 308-340-5422, 308-340-1274, or 308-278-2675.

Culbertson Speedway is on the Hitchcock County Fairgrounds on the east side of Culbertson, Nebraska. Those grounds are .3 mile south of US Highway 6 and 34 on Railroad Street.

I talked to Jim at 3, and it is sunny down there. Jim says he has heard there is a 30% chance of rain after 8 PM CDT, and weather.com doesn't show that chance until after 9 PM tonight. The IMCA classes will probably be run first to make sure we get their heats in and we can call it a show if something were to happen with the weather. If conditions do change before 8 PM CDT, there probably will be no one who can update the internet. If you are driving from a distance, when you get closer to the area, you might want to listen to KICX 96.1 FM or Coyote Country 105.3 FM.

(You could also try calling the 308-340-5422, 308-340-1274 numbers. They are cell phones.)
